We’ve not fully supported RuneScape Classic for years, so why are we suddenly seeing it as a problem now? The truth is that bots and lack of community safety tools are serious problems, however, we also feel that we can no longer offer long term service reliability due to the growing risk of unrecoverable game breaking bugs. The game is no longer supported with the more advanced tools used for RuneScape and Old School ReneScape, making the game prone to bots from 3rd party macro tools. Reason for RuneScape Classic’s unfortunate end is due to the lack of support the game has got. In the blog post, it’s said that the game will be working on closing down the online game in the next three months. Since the release of RuneScape Classic back in 2001, the online title showed how online interactivity will be a more common element with many games we play now that was revolutionary at the time. And not to be confused with the later version Old School RuneScape (OSRS) as seen from the confusion with latest coverage of this news. Announced over on the RuneScape website, Jagex announces that the first version of the MMORPG RuneScape Classic, will be getting shutdown.
